Memorial Explorer Post 1897 offers area high-school students the opportunity to discover a wide variety of healthcare careers. Explorer Posts are coordinated by the local Boy Scouts office for boys and girls ages 14-20.
Memorial Explorer Post 1897 2009-2010 Schedule
Following registration at an October meeting for parents and students, the post meets monthly. Each month, November through April, a different health-care field offers hands-on learning activities and introduces students to a variety of healthcare careers. Memorial staff members also share their personal career paths and what they like about what they do.
Departments that have offered monthly Explorer Post programs include Nursing, Emergency, Laboratory, Rehab, Pharmacy and the Heart and Vascular Institute. The post year concludes in May when Explorers, their parents and other family members are invited to a recognition ceremony.
